9 ARRA-funded Purdue researchers win NSF early-career awards

Nine Purdue University faculty members, whose work is supported by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, have won the National Science Foundation's most prestigious honor for outstanding young researchers in 2009.
The Faculty Early Career Development awards range from $300,000-$525,000 in research funding over four or five years. About 400 researchers win the awards annually.
Purdue's recipients this year are Yong Chen, Demetra Evangelou, Kevin Gurney, Matthew Jones, Krista Nichols, Zheng Ouyang, Ann E. Rundell, Chen Yang and Dabao Zhang.
